Concert for Hope

The First Mesquite praise band, chancel choir, and special guests present our Concert for Hope. Our church family invites you to an inspiring evening of uplifting music, hope, and meaningful community action. Please join us for a fun evening of fellowship and good music to lift our spirits, unite our community, and remind us that God’s love is stronger than despair. 

 

This concert is more than a performance; it is an opportunity to make a real difference. Proceeds will be evenly split between Project Unbroken and FMUMC. Project Unbroken helps families left behind by suicide find ways to thrive again. They do this by providing financial support (with grants to keep children active and engaged in activities they love, and grants for post-secondary education and job training), emotional support (connecting families to grief support and therapy options), and spiritual support (sharing spiritual organizations tailored to those who have lost loved ones to suicide). September is suicide awareness month. A few statistics to consider:

·      In 2024, there were nearly 50K deaths by suicide in the US.

·      Over 30K children lose a parent to suicide each year.

·      Death by suicide is four times higher among males than females.

·      Death by suicide is nearly four times higher among LGBTQ-identifying youth as their peers.

·      Family members of suicide victims are 3x more likely to die by suicide, and 7x more likely to suffer from depression, anxiety, and PTSD.

·      Death by suicide is nearly 2x higher among veterans.

·      The rate of death by suicide is increasing the fastest among the elderly.

 

Whether you come to listen, to sing along, to support a meaningful cause, or simply to spend time in community, we hope you will join us to make a difference in our community. Admission is free, but there will be a dessert auction (of some amazingly delicious desserts!), and donations will be accepted.
